Maternal Figments
Updated: Jul 1
There is a world of worries, fears and strange future scenarios you're faced with when becoming a mother.
The ever-lingering anxiety is especially triggered by environmental catastrophes, pandemics and wars perpetuated by unfathomably large investments in the industries that profit from hunger, exploitation and death. Conscious choices to fund what leaves small room for solutions to a brighter future for a generation to come. A generation to which my son belongs and whose future I hope to be a good one.
Sometimes, it feels like no matter how much you work through those worries and fears, they seem to remain in the back of your head and on the front covers of the newspapers, always ready to swallow you when you're most vulnerable.
It is a world of worries and fears, a mixture between uncertainty and helplessness, that seem less irrational with every day that goes by. Maybe, if I capture them on paper, they let me be.
